Deborah is a lifelong learner and teacher. She was a training and development manager for customer service centers for over twenty years. The tech company she worked for in 2001 was part of the tech bubble that burst, so she turned her attention to her lifelong desire to work with children. She took her bachelor’s degree in English and added a year of studying, student teaching, and testing for the Texas teacher certifications (she currently has eight). Deborah immediately started working on her Masters in Literacy, completing it in 2005. When she moved to Amarillo in 2004, she went to work at Amarillo College teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). The following year she began working as an ESL teacher for AISD, first at Caprock High School, then Austin Middle School and Bivins Elementary (two different age groups in one day – which was wild), and finally moving to Tradewind Elementary where she taught for 12 years. She retired from Amarillo College in 2019 and from AISD in 2022.

Laura presented Deborah with the opportunity to work with her to develop Medicare services for her clients. She had a great time studying for her Life, Health, and HMO insurance license, proving to herself that her 70-year-old brain still worked! Deborah gets to do what she loves: learning and teaching.  Medicare can be a challenge to master, but since she HAS Medicare, Social Security, and TRS, she feels she has the knowledge and experience to help people make the Medicare and retirement decisions that work best for them. She’s so happy to be here, continuing her life of service to my community.
